Here’s all the things happening this winter at the library.
For the Kids & Families!
Family Game Night is the first Tuesday of every month from 5:30-7pm. Bring your family and play some games with other families! No registration required.
Snacks & Stories is Thursday January 16th and February 13th at 3:30pm. All kiddos in grades K-4 are invited to join us afterschool
Pizza & Party (formerly 5th & 6th Grade Club) is for any 5th & 6th grader! Come hangout with us afterschool from 3:30-5:00pm on January 23rd & again on February 20th to eat pizza and play a game, make a craft, use the 3D printer, and more!
Little Makers starts Saturday, January 11th and will run the second Saturday of every month from 10-11am. This is a Makerspace class for toddlers & preschoolers. Come bring them to the library and we’ll learn to build some cool stuff!
Stuffie Sleepover & Pajama Storytime is Wednesday, February 12th at 6pm. Come dressed in your pajamas and bring your stuffie for a fun family storytime. Then leave your stuffie behind so they can have their own special sleepover!
Our 3rd Annual LEGO Contest is back! Signups start February 1st and judging takes place February 28th. More information to come.
For the Homeschoolers!
Homeschool Book Clubs meet at 1pm & 2pm on January 9th and February 6th. Books are available to pick up from the circulation desk.
Homeschool Hangout is the 3rd Friday of every month at 10am.
Beat the Winter Blues!
Complete the Winter Reading Challenge! We have one for the kids and 2 versions for the adults. Stop by the library to get your entry forms.
For the Teenagers!
We’re introducing Teen BookBox! This is the library’s version of a monthly book subscription box. Each individually curated box contains a library book, a bookmark, etc. The first book box goes out on January 15th. This is for all teens ages 12-8. For the Residents!
Have you ever wondered how the town budget is developed? What is an SB2 Town? What is a deliberative session? Get the answers to all these questions and more at our TOWN 101 event on Tuesday, January 14th at 6pm. The New Durham Town Clerk will be present at the library to share how the town operates and works and will answer all your questions. Light refreshments and kid activities will be provided.
For the Makers!
Join us for Makerspace After Dark, an ADULTS ONLY Makerspace night! This is for anyone ages 18+ that has been dying to get their hands on our kids makerspace cart. We see you looking at those tools. We see you parents doing most of the work at the kids makerspace nights. Now it’s your chance to take your turn! This event will be Tuesday, January 28th, at 6pm. Please register at the library so we have enough materials.
For the Artists!
We’re having a Paint Night on Wednesday, Februrary 5th at 6pm. This is a step by step paint instruction on how to paint a snowy scene. Anyone ages 12 and up are welcome to attend. Please register at the library as we have limited spots.
Learn how to make a coil rope basket! This is a fun craft where each participant will learn how to make a coil rope basket that they can take home with them at the end of the night. Anyone age 12 and up is welcome to attend on Wednesday, January 22nd at 6pm. Sign up at the library as we have limited spots.
For the Gals!
Celebrate Galentine’s Day on Thursday, February 13th, at 6pm at the library for a fun Speed Dating event! Don’t worry, no men are allowed. We’ll be speed dating to meet our next read. That’s right! It’s a Book Speed Dating program! Bring your sister, your mom, your friend, your neighbor and enjoy a fun night of talking about and meeting new books. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is for any gal age 14 or older. Registration is not required.
For the Disney Enthusiasts!
Come learn how to plan a Disney Trip with Disney Travel Agent Fern. She will walk you through all the tips and tricks on how to plan the best Disney trip possible. This event will be Tuesday, February 18th at 6pm.
